Esraz is very famous in India, specially used in Rabindra Sangeet, Ghazals and Classical Music. It is 4 string wooden instrument with 16 to 19 frets through which one can play different notes. Addional 15 strings called “Taraf” adds more melody to it. This is played with the help of bow.
Tanpura
Tanpura is being played by pupil learning classical music. Its made of tun wood and have single tumba of pumpkin. It has 4 strings-first 3 steel strings and the fourth one is of brass.

Sitar
Sitar has been India’s most favoured Indian Classical String Instrument for more than a century. Ustad Vilayat Khan and Pandit Ravi Shankar has made its famous in the West for the last fifty years. Single Sitar has 7 string used mostly by Amateurs and Tarabdar Sitars have 22 strings are used mostly by professionals.
Sarod
Sarod is carved from a single piece of teak or tun wood as requested. It is a fretless string instrument having a metal plate for smooth fingering.It has four main string, 6 rhythm and drone stings and fifteen sympathetic strings.
Swar Mondal
It is tuned on specific Raga and on 3 octives. Played by Khayal Singers.
Santoor
A flat instrument made up of wooden box. Santoor is an persian instrument introduced in Indian classical music during the XVth century. It has 93 strings with 31 notes and it is played with two metal forks.
Sarangi
It is a bowed stringed instrument made of tun wood played with the back of finger nails and is mostly used in Indian classical music.
Dilruba
Dilruba is played in Bengali classical music and it is in between sitar and sarangi. It is also very closed to Esraj. It is bowed instrument made from tun wood and has steel strings.
Gopichand Ektara
It is a most famous folk instrument of Bengal used for singing devotional songs by pupil called " baul". It has more of rhythmic quality than melody and has a distinctive sound.
