Harmonium





Harmonium is an Indian hand made instruement. Hindi name of this is " baja " It is the basic need for pupil who wants to tune their voice and pitch in the right track. Various Indian Ragas like Malhaar, Todi, Vasnth, Durbaari etc. can be played with the help of this instrument. Raga Miyan Malhar was named after a famous Indian musician “Tansen”, who was in the Durbaar of Mughal Emperor, Akbar The Great. Key Terms Reed: A set of metal strips produce tone in response to stream of air. Scale: Variation in pitch arrangement of lower and higher notes. Standing notes: Small knobs for note variation. Octave: One octave equal to twelve notes consisting of seven surs and five lower notes. Bellow:Bellow pumps the air over the reed.
